Kevlar water hoses
Discussion
I am busy rebuilding a 1978 Daimler (XJ6 ser 2). Some time ago, probably about 2 years back now, I bought a brand new set of water hoses with "Kevlar" stickers from a reputable Jaguar spares supplier. They were put in my store along with a host of other spares and fitted about 6 months ago. I have just changed out the water pump as I discovered a lot of play in the bearing (no water leak though!) and whilst doing so I found that most of these hoses are starting to crack very noticably. Annoyed or what! I now need yet another new set. Incidentally, the car is seldom run as I am still working on it.
Has anybody experienced similar problems? Is there any alternative such as the traditional rubber moulded over a cotton strengthener for an XJ6?
