Currently having intermittent Power Steering problems, sometimes the PAS pump fails to start when the fuel pump starts, consequently no PAS and it's nearly impossible to drive, I'll soon have forearms like Popeye. Switch ignition on and off and PAS pump then starts, appears to be electrical problem, fuel pump relay changed and waiting for new PAS pump relay which should be fitted next week. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced similiar problems.

I had a similar problem and it was the PS relay the contacts of which no longer lined up correctly:-

It is a Peugeot item and is under the main bonnet.

Other than this it could also be the 80 Amp fuse that is fitted in the battery compartment.

Thanks Nick, It looks like we're on the right track, Paul Forrest is going to change the PS relay (the grey one in your photo) as soon as he gets one (probably tomorrow). As you say with an intermittent fault, its hard to diagnose, no sooner does it happen then it goes away. Mis-aligned contacts on the solenoid seem a good bet. I'm off to Italy in September and want it fixed before, otherwise I will be Popeye.
