sponsorship regs?

since major motorsport sems to have issues with tobacco advertising with sponsors I was wondering, is it ok to have alcohol (a brewery) sponsoring a race car? anyone know anythign about this?

Yes, how else would McLaren be sponsored by Johnnie Walker?

Williams had Labatts sponsorship in the early 90s
Martini, in the 70s/80s
Fosters have an input too, but usually sponsor the events, rather than a set team/driver.

In my experience, you will find them not interested, due to the issues of drink/driving. Some categorically will not get involved with any form of motorised sport.

The likes of F1 are above all that, because those deals are done at a much higher level, where ethics don't count, only ego's.

Martini are back in with Ferrari as of last year, still there this year.
