What were the figures before the Stealth cam?

My RR this week revealed 263bhp/310lbsft. I'm concerned that if I change the cam I'll gain bhp but lose torque.

Glad to see you've got it back at last!

Good figures mate, are you happy with how it drives?

Flinstone, with the stealth, you'll lose virtually nothing. My 500 now has 294bhp and 316 lb/ft. And that torque curve is virtually flat from about 2500 revs.

Blimey - those figures eclipse a standard 500 by a good margin. eek

Were the mods expensive?

as Side sez - of course not. But good for mild to moderately worked 4.5, on a par with a 500 with a mild cam upgrade. Maybe atad down on torque - but that is heavily related to capacity.

I understand that the cams wear out after 40k miles on the RV8, so I guess I'll have to have one of these in around 8k miles time.

Excuse me, I'm just off for a long drive. drivingwink

I'm afraid they aren't that predictable. They might go as soon as 25K, but equally they might last 100K or longer.

Aye, that's why I'm finding it so hard to decide. At 41000 miles I can't be certain my cam has worn out.

CaptiV8ed. Did you have any other mods? Induction, anything like that?

Flinstone,

I had a rather awful (to me) tapping noise which I traced to one of the valves / tappet area. I had only had the car since october anyway, so if there was a reduction in performance, I wouldn't have known about it.

I then proceeded to remove my inlet manifold and measure the lift on the tappets. The noisy one was down to 4mm (should be 10/11 ish)and it wasn't really cam shaped anymore either, just a slightly eccentric circle. One other lobe was the same and several others had squared off. My outlook on things is replace by upgrade, but I didn't want the low down shunting and loss of torque you get with a H404 cam. Stealth it was then!

No, I don't have any other mods, aside the precats removed. It's much sharper, not so shunty (still a little at very low revs) and goes like stink. When I said my torque curve was flat, I meant in the real world range 2000 - 5000 revs. Outside of this, it drops away.

Next thing hopefully will be a megasquirt system and coil packs - winter project! Smooth as a prom queen's thigh and as responsive as it gets.

Nick

Mine was worn out at 27k! Reason I gave up on them (well one of them).

Simple question- does the Stealth cam need a valve spring and valve guide change, and does anyone have the spec for it (lift duration etc). Who sells it ?

Thanks
