I am thinking of having a complete respray on my 993. The colour is midnight blue and looks stunning from a distance, however under closer inspection there are many imperfections in the paintwork. I will also change the seals and do the typical corrosion bits found on a 993.

My question is, I will have little change from 5 grand for the work and wondered how much this will improve the value of the car by ?

Is it worth doing ? I got the car for a very good price btw....

Could the imperfections not be sorted out by paint correction as part of a professional detailing? Would be cheaper than a full respray that you won't get your money back on imho.

This is always a difficult one. There really is no business case for doing five grands worth of work. You will not get it back when you sell the car.

Surely, the paintwork can't be so bad that it needs a complete respray? How about having the paintwork buffed up / corrected and spending a couple of grand on respraying the areas that really need it. An expert sprayer can blend it in so that it does not look patchy.I believe the dark blues are relatively easy to match.

As The Londoner has mentioned, you'll be amazed at what a Paint Correction process will do when applied by a professional, typical cost will be around £200.00 to £300.00 for the full monty. wink

Have a look on www.detailingworld.co.uk for some info and contacts of local Detailers.

Hi, get it to a bodyshop and see what can and can't be polished out, then get the problem areas sorted like stone chips which can cause rust bubbels. 5 grands a bit much for a repaint, 3-4 grands about right.
