Need a piston, cant find one anywhere
Discussion
One of our apprentices has T reg Peugeot 106 GTI. A bit of sprak plug has come away inside the combustion chambers and totally battered the piston croawn and cylinder head, the valves cant even shut its that bad. He has managed to source a second hand head £60 bargin, engineer wanted shed loads to alloy weld and skim the old one.
But we are desperately searching for a single none genuine piston to replace the battered one. Peugeot will only sell a set of four and there £600. We can get a set of racing forged alloy ones for £450, but all I want is a cheap cast alloy one (like an AE or something), like it had from production for £60 or so. Have asked a few factors but no one seems to be able to get them, keep saying its a wet liner engine, but it isnt.
Engine code is NFX full info are as follows, anyone know where I can get one, would be very greatful for your help.
TU5J4L 96- 106 GTi 16V 1587 EFI Magneti Marelli 1AP 118hp
1.6i 16v GTi TU5J4/L3 (NFX)

Yep tried them no joy. Tried the engineer we use, who does engine rebuild for customers and he couldn't find one listed for this car either.
The phone conversations all go the same, piston? hang on here's the catalogue what's the engine, none listed for that engine, you can get rings and shells even valves, but not pistons. Its really annoying.
TU5J4L is the proper engine code NFX was wrong as is different.
Later version of same engine TU5JP4, piston available same bore uses same rings but different compression ratio, might try it, but is it goes bang again he's gonna cry.
