It is very noticeable that there are a number of insurance related threads running across a number of areas - with some very questionable advice being given.

Would it not be useful to establish a specific Insurance Forum where issues can be raised? In that way people, like me, who work in the insurance industry could offer advice. This could operate much like the excellent information provided by Black Spider on the BMW/MINI forum.

I am prepared to be Grey Spider!

I think this might be a good idea as it seems to be a bit of a minefield. My sister has recently had a bad experience with a claim and it would have been useful to have someone to ask for a bit of advice. Although it may be a little dull!

Judging by the amount of posts with related questions or from un-happy insurance customers, it probably a good idea!

Some of the advice might be a bit dodgy but one of the features of this site is that you get real answers from people with experiences. I am sure that as someone in the insurance industry that you are knowledgable about this sort of thing but most aspects of car insurance are pretty basic and there are people on this forum with (nearly) every sort of car, all of whom have had experiences with insurance.

Looks like the man Del Monte - he say NO!!

Happy to hear the forum is in development and look forward to trying to help as many PH'ers as possible. My view was that this should be a general forum on insurance, not just motor related.

Look forward to contributing.

OK.

The bonus accelerator you already have is impressive and would be hard to beat - probably being marketed by a specialist broker??

Recommendations for shopping around include Confused.com, Admiral (currently in market for young drivers), Adrian Flux (hungry for anything) or Bell Direct (keen on 'high risk' business).

Having said that, the intent of an Insurance Forum would be to provide help when problems are experienced rather than a market place for quotes. Most PH'ers, like you, will already be sophisticated market searchers and will understand how their needs stack against price, service, claims performance and price stability. Some want quality and are prepared to pay, others just shop on price and are prepared to accept the most basic of covers to achieve it.

Wherever you are on the shopping spectrum I hope you get what you want - and never have to use it!

When my renewal came up in April time, I checked the whole market including everyone that you mentioned. Im now with Frizzel LV. Its not really a bonus accelerator scheme, it is essentially that next April at the end of this years insurance, as long as I havent had any claims until then, they will formally recognise my previous year of driving as a named driver under Norwich Union. The price that I am paying is slightly over £2200 Fully Comp with coutesy car and personal cover extended to £100k.
