Car in for MOT, garage was also going to fit two rear Toyo tyres. Car failed MOT due to leaking shocker, no biggy, but they didn't want to change the rear tyres due to the risk of damaging my wheels as they're too big. Stoopid me didn't notice until i was home that they've gone and damaged the alloy!! They didn't say that they had tried and failed to fit it. Although the damage is minor, they were completely unmarked, so feeling a bit miffed.

Interestingly for those that think TVR cannot pass a standard MOT emissions test, no problem; The car is a completely standard 4.5.

So i need a good set of shockers that best suit the country roads in Aberdeenshire, is it to be Gaz or Protos...?

Are Nitrons still considered good these days? I had them on my car before the Cerbera and the Cerbera had them already and I swear by them.

Never heard anything bad said about Nitrons, except maybe the price, top drawer kit... but if money isn't a problem then Ohlin's are the 'dogs daglers'

Mine failed the MOT last week because it was not fitted with a rear number plate light! Last year it failed because the rear number plate wasn't working! Both MOTs were done at the same MOT Station!!

No Cerb can pass a standard emissions test. Luckily it doesn't have to. smile

I can see this particular one being a problem with pre 2002 cars, as the "hidden" lights are not that bright when on during the day. Someone could have in the past put on a normal non-transparent rear number plate on?

Best find someone that does TVR's on a regular basis, or go through someone that services the cars. That's my plan of action. My hand brake for example is rubbish, even when driving the car with it slightly on, still rubbish, yet the dealer got it through an MOT.

I was wondering when you'd be along biggrin

The old fart who did my test nearly spat his teeth out when i suggested changing the Lambda values... i got the same test as the eurobox that went in before me.

Strange - as mine passed easier than our 4 year old Nissan Primera with it's 6 month old new engine and new Cats in it. It easily passed modern standards and I didn't have to worry. It had just been serviced the week before.

InverCerb got it in one.

Standard Cerb can't pass the lambda at slow or fast idle on a standard emissions test.

But there is a rule that says the car doesn't have to pass to a better standard than it did when it came out the factory. To this end every MOT place should have a white book of cars that could never meet this standard when they came out the factory, and the Cerb is one of them.

I used to scratch my head as I had a emissions tester and not a single Cerb I tested could pass yet it calibrated very well when I took it along for my Cerbs MOT. Various MOT places I took my car to had to be argued to get it through a test, if you know what I mean. A20 is a regular place to get a spot roadside emissions test done and I'd fallen foul of it twice.

It was complete coincidence I found the white book on the government website while searching for something else. Next MOT I mentioned the book to them which they eventually found and low the car has a relaxed emissions profile. I now keep a copy in the car but havn't been pulled over since.

Can you remember where you found this doc? Could be handy to bookmark in case I ever failed a roadside test.

Mines' just failed it's MOT, handbrake, slight tear on the inside of a tyre and emissions. However, I'm not worried about the emissions as she needs a service and we just found out the cylinders were connected in reverse order (yup, that's right) although she was running very well. Until the fire that is. Still, the fibre glass has been rebuilt, new immobiliser in (destroyed by the fire), hopefully she'll pass the MOT and be serviced this week or so. I can't wait to get her back!
