tracking it or just road use?

for tracks toyo r888s are all the rage(£600 a set). or pirellu corsa r (extra £350) or Mich pilot sport cups if you are feeling flush. (£1100 ish)

if its road use, Conti sport contact 2s, toyo t1rs are decent, as are Pirelli Corsa systems

Hi Peter..
75-80% road use..

I had Bridgestone SO2's on my 993 which I found very good ?? Are these ok for a GT3 ??

I would like a tyre that is good in the dry, wet and will be ok on track !

Heard 888's are very noisy for road use, P zero's wear very quick ??
confused

IMHO Bridgestone S02's are brilliant in the dry but terrible in the wet. I can vouch for this as I aquaplaned down m25 backwards 3 years ago in my previous car.

I have contis on my 996

I assume that Michelin PS2s come in Mk1 sizes too (OE on Mk2). For road use at least - fine in the dry and I honestly believe that they stopped me from crashing a couple of weeks ago.

(Only moderate rain, but hit an unexpected [masked by spray from some tart in a barge who pulled out in front of me] diagonal river of water accelerating up a hill on an A road. Car tried hard to 'plane and spin, but was caught without visible drama).

the toyos realy do make a terrible droning noise. Plus they wear quickly. I cant seem to get more than 4 track days on fronts and maybe 5 on the rears. Pirelli corsa r tyres look like they last longer but not by much.

It may not be relevant to you , but I have PS2,s on my Evo,Have had all tyres on this car and I believe they are outstanding in the dry and wet.Very quiet and very hard wearing.Sidewalls a bit flexible for mega hard track use,but as a dual purpose tyre, very hard to beat.

PS2's are not availible in MK1 sizes. Can only buy PS1's otherwise it's a Pirelli or Bridgestone option for pure road tyres. I use PS1's for the road and 888's for track work.

(Tif - amazed you wear out your fronts before the rears, must be all that late braking at bedford that does it!)
