Fitting strut braces to the front of a VW Golf MKII GTI

Hello

I am about to fit top and bottom strut braces to the front of a MK2 VW Golf GTI 16v 1989.

If any one has past experience of doing this then please feel free to contribute. Just list anything that you feel is relevent!!!!!

FAQ's
1. Do I remove the front suspension prior to drilling the holes to mount the top brace?
2. Do I need to support anything critical underneath prior to removing the bolts to mount the bottom brace?
3. Anything else useful please???????????

Does anyone know what the plate and 12mm self tapper bolts are for that came with the OMP top front brace?? It may be a drilling template and fixing bolts but they dont look very substantial if that is what they are???

Are you supposed to weld the plate to the strut top and bolt the brace to that in the same way you use plates when fitting a roll cage? Thats my guess anyway.
