Just been looking at a video posted of someone driving my car at Lemans.
I couldn't help but notice that during a little 'crowd entertaining' my Chim only leaves 1 black line on the road...

I'm thinking this isn't normal/ideal... (it's the first time I've seen footage of my own car).
Could the LSD be on it's way out (can't hear anything)? or is this likely to be due to road camber/steering away from onlookers etc?

Cheers

Any idea what sort of LSD you have / are supposed to have? The V8S as standard had a viscous diff that was about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

No doubt that if your rear toe and cambers were all over the place that traction could be compromised, and a lot of the cars that fall into my hands are a right mess.

The state of those rear toe adjusters must give you great info for compiling a rogues gallery when matched to the stamps in the little black book evilbiggrin

LOL
Yes, worse still when people say "shouldn't be too bad Derek, only adjusted 3 months ago" and then I hang 18st off the toe adjuster and can't move it.

BTW if anybody has similar problems with rear toe adjusters, I'm now offering a re-tap and replacement service 1 hours labour and £4 for a new adjuster. Handy having so many CNC machines at Gaz.biggrin

How much are new ones? I may be wrong but I thought I only paid £4 each for new ones at Blackpool....

One wheelers mean an open diff, viscous units are notiously lame.

Proper diffs should leave number 11's

Many a true word spoken in jest....
Earlier this year my Griff had some work at a localish TVR specialists (not Walldenway).
I had a couple of new front wishbones. All the others were blasted and powder coated. Steve's drop links and polybushes all round. They set up the suspension, assuring me the shocks were ok.
It didn't feel as good as I wanted, so I called Derek and ordered Nitrons with stiffer springs.
He showed me how far out of adjustment it was.
Worse was the rear toe adjusters. He couldn't move them because they're powder coated in.
Not only had they not bothered to remove them before powder coating, they cannot possibly have adjusted them.
Derek kindly offered to put right their 'work' and the independent agreed to refund the costs.
We need a way of distinguishing the good independents from the bad.

To true Spend, the amount of cars i have veiwed where the customer just hands you the service record like this is all you need to know, how their faces change when you start picking faults on the car that the garage should have spotted they give you that lookredface as if your trying to get money knocked off,but all your trying to tell them is that the car is not all they thought it was.

Yep I must say I see this a lot too, and it goes for any car not just TVR's. I remember having a looking around for my first car, which apparently had full main dealer history. You could tell it didn't by the fact that the oil filler cap was all gunked up! smile

Another thing that came to light recently was rear toe adjusters where the beveled lock nut had been pulled through the toe adjuster.
If you have a go at the rear tracking yourself, make sure you leave the long 19mm socket on the locknut and dont let the nut turn with the adjuster or you may find yourself in trouble at a later date when you can't get a socket on the lock nut.
