About time I updated a few bits...............
Discussion
Had an very interesting day today at Austecs, still trying the car out with the original 4.2 unmodified intakes, along with standard manifolds and exhaust to get some absolute base lines and to see what the limit is for them unfettled. Before trying the beautifully made big boy modified 4.2 intakes, giving the car a good lineage with Aston Martin
. The ACT/JP modified manifolds are waiting too and are looking shiny in the corner.
Back to today, all I can say is even keeping the revs down to 5k5 (almost injector limited
) there are not a lot of Cerbs that exceed it (mine @ 5k5 Vs plots up to 7k5 for others) even in this mild state
.

- The reference maps/values for the adaptives have had to be completely re-aligned, a first even for the stroked AJP's seen before
. - Its drinking twice the fuel low down that a full blown short induction/trick manifold/exhaust big boy 4.5 needs

- It has anywhere from 100lbs to 40lbs more torque below 3k5 rpm than any AJP 4.5 seen before, almost RV8 shaped

- Power delivery is ballistic in shape
- All testing today was without airboxes too, which reduces torque figures by a fair bit (20lbs or so), that makes the values I witnessed today a double

.

Sounds like some engine Harry, hope this bodes well for mine even though it is not going to be in the same league as yours. Don't suppose Paul mentioned to you how mine was getting on? Still waiting for the modified throttle bodies, did ask him if I could just nick yours but there was no bribing him.
Would be good to see those graphs then harry.
So this is basically at the moment a completely standard 4.2 that's had it's capacity raised? What cc is it now? To make twice the breathing at low rpm (where flow rates aren't limited anyway) you'd need twice the capacity but i cant believe you have an 8.4 litre engine ... or have you?
or you have nitrous/forced induction?
Two things of interest .. if you're getting baseline figures to compare to later on and you're already injector limited why don't you just change the injectors now? otherwise your comparisons are meaningless.
Also what is a "revised adaptive"?
Sounds like an awesome engine though, can't wait to see it up against the best of the other tuned cerberas later in the year .. keep it coming

Sorry haven't got any graphs with me, just memory from the screen. I will when finished get a selection of progressive graphs together to see what the different bits gave to the car and tell the story.
The capacity is 4.5 (well 4.525 Vs 4.475) only slightly opened up for the new pistons.
re the fuel flow and 8.4ltrs or blown
its still a NA 4.5,I could have gone for the 4.7/5.0 but chose to keep it at 4.5. I mean it requires twice the injector duration on the map for the same load sites that 'known' high powered 4.5 do, hence twice the fuel, perhaps it just has a better VE
.
Agree about injector limiting, hence the car will get bigger Bosche ones next week as it is pointless trying to map it as is any further.
I don't pretend to fully understand adaptives or the MBE tbh, just I know Paul does and has had to delve deep into the MBE as the references are so far away it was dragging the car down, never had to do that before. He can do a similar thing for the speed6 as well, perhaps that monster rebuilt one that's waiting on the D-throttle chip may need something similar to sort it

Saw your car outside but didn't ask, I know you are waiting on the results of the the 4.2 intakes, don't know if they will be offering them or how much they would be but I would assume the man hours spent on mine would not need to be repeated, RnD so to speak. They have been opened up to accept 48mm butterflys along with the usual wasting, tappering and port matched to the heads. tbh I think they could be used by some 4.2's too I think Paul is going to try them on a standard 4.2 too to see what they give.
