I've been offered an 01 Tuscan cheap as its got a blown engine.

I believe they are a little fragile and expensive to fix so I'm wondering if its worth buying and swapping a different engine in.

Obvious solution would be a Rover V8 but I'm wondering whether it'd fit as std is a straight 6 and bonnet clearence looks TIGHT.

Anyone know how the sizes compare ?

Only 6 I can think of, that is suitably powerful and cheap is a Supra twin turbo...

Not bothered about resale it would be a toy for me, done a few engine swaps but know very little about later TVRs.

Cheers

Don't BMW do a straight six?

Oh the irony...

Very interesting project though! Good luck! Report back when you've got it working!

Personally I would opt for a modified Rover V8 as then you have the sound and the feel with plenty of grunt

I wouldnt have the heart to put a jap I6 under the bonnet of the Tuscan...plus they dont sound nowhere near good enough to compliment the looks

Think I read that V8s are difficult to fit (chassis tubes and stuff). Although some people try to fit american V8 lumps... What about a straight six jag engine? Would that be considered as an 'acceptable' option? Like in: being british, available (parts/knowledge/tuning) and probably not too expensive.

Yes I thought the width of the V8 might be to big.

I suppose the Jag XJR 6 would be neat but they all have high miles by now...

Anyone got any links for pics / info on Tuscan engine / engine bay sizes ?

Would an AJPV8 fit? or you could buy an old E34 M5 3.8

I had an ex police 24V one of those and it was a lovely engine 170,000 miles, didn't even burn any oil and went like stink.

Take your pick

3.2 out of an E46 M3 or Z4M

3.3/3.4 out of an Alpina B3 / B10 / Roadster

3.8 out of an E34 M5

3.0 Turbo out of an E90 335i
