Time to chop in M5 and thinking about one. Any thoughts?

I bet you never wanted the M6 while you had the M5?

The G is a Flintstone car. You'd end up having Betty (fragile and pretty), but would always be thinking of Wilma (the Murci - hotter and more 'special').

I suspect that most people wouldn't see a Gallardo as a replacement for an M5 bearing in mind the M5 has 4 doors and 5 seats...

Do a search on here. There are LOTS of impressions of the Gallardo and lots of buying experiences etc.

I have a 530i M-sport and a G and have driven the M5....

The G is a different league....especially handling wise. Makes a 5 feel overweight....

Only thing to be concerned with is if you use your 5 in the way I used mine for trips abroad not much luggage space.

Is the Gallardo useable on a day to day basis or will I need to have another car for that?

It is but I would recommend a 2nd car, it keeps it that much more special each time you get in it.

I've no personal experience but the last dealer I spoke to said he has more cars in for problems due to lack of use than for over-use. They like to be driven, you like to drive them, match made in heaven.

With 400kg between them it's hardly surprising wink

I've got an M5 and a Gallardo SE. The M5 is supposedly my daily driver, but I love driving the G so much that I take it to work as often as the BMW. The G isn't as happy at town speeds as the M5, but it just feels more special. It certainly doesn't feel fragile - it feels stronger in most respects than the BMW although less refined. Hand on heart, if I had to quit one, I don't know which it would be. Anyway, you should go for it - apparently we only live once. smile

Yes! just about every daylaughlaughlaugh
As you properly noticed, no room for stuff! but the compromise is worth it for me. Fuel consumption can drop into single figures! But if you have an M5 i'm sure that won't offend you!!!
Never driven the M5 but had a CSL a few years ago, they are not comparable at all, imo. The Gallardo has real soul, and most important for me, is an event/exciting to drive at 40, as well as 100+
Good luck!
All the above! Just my thoughtsbeer

My opinion for what it's worth.

90% plus of gallardo's are bought as a way of treating yourself to a childhood dream.

The comment above about most cars that have had trouble are due to lack of use i completely agree with IMO. I've seen cars with huge mileage with no real history of mechanical faults and all the cars that i've seen with major faults seem to be either multiple owners cars that have had so many different styles of driver in them or new, low mileage cars that are driven by people that don't drive them correctly (this isn't an insult to those who have done clutches within 2k as you don't get a free lesson in how to drive one and you have to learn the expensive way!)

Feed the power in once the car is fully in motion and in gear. The great thing about using a gallardo or any other supercar everyday is that 90% plus of cars do the standard 2/3k per annum which helps them maintain strong residual values and in turn means that as long as car with more miles, even double or triple the miles is priced just under the low mileage cars it will always sell as people love buying the cheapest availible.

Example.

05/05 Gallardo - 2k - 1 owner - £99,995
05/05 Gallardo - 16k - 5 owners - £81995
05/05 Gallardo - 30k - 1 owner - £80995

i know which one i'd buy. If someone has covered 30k in 2 years in a lamborghini they couldn't have had to many major problems as they wouldn't of kept it.

You crack on and buy a car and you'll enjoy every minute of it.

P.S i've never had technical problem with a lamborghini apart from one boned dry of fuel!!!

When you drive the Gallardo its more of an experience than simply driving a car.
I have the pleasure to drive most of the finest cars in the world (and i get paid for it !) but in the past year the car that has bought the most attention is a Black Gallardo.

Ferrari is an icon, a dream for most kids that lives throughout there life.
Porsche is a dream car but with hard work is achievable to own.

The lamborghini is a dream car that 99.99% of people know they could neither own or afford to run so it keeps the dream at a higher level.

I am a believer that dreams are good, they aspire you, so for this reason i think the lambo is a package thats worth every penny (if your pockets are deep enough).

We had one in this week, i had to take it to the local petrol station which for super unleaded is 4 miles away, ive never had so many people get there mobile phones out and take pictures of a car i was driving.

They dont drive as nice as the Porsche or Ferrari at low speeds due to the clutch system but OMG do you feel great behind the wheel.

I have a 996 Turbo Cabriolet as my daily driver yet on my drive home from work i fealt 2nd class.

If this year goes well, its a Gallardo for me smile
