OK, I’m hooked, didn’t think I’d enjoy car simulation racing games on the PC, but after playing TDU loads, and GTR 1, courtesy of LukeBird, I went out and bought GTR2 for a measly tenner, and the accuracy in graphics and handling is amazing! (Although I can’t do the hairpin bend test in the Elise in the time allowed!)

Are there any more options to change the view, and the only view outside the car is right up it’s backside?

And, are there anymore driving sims for the PC that I’m missing?

rFactor!!!!!!!!! The best there is. A lot of GTR2 has been converted to run on the rFactor platform. It has the best online workings. There are constantly people making new mods and tracks for it so it never gets old.

Edit; And you could compete in the PH rFactor league.

As mentioned above get hold of rFactor and there are plenty of quality mods for it. F1 1979, Australian V8 Supercars, Truck Racing, loads.

As for the views. On your keyboard INSERT for cockpit, nosecam, PAGEUP key for exterior and the numeric keys moves the cam around and on replay PAGEDOWN gives you static trackside camera views. But you mustn't drive the car from the the chase cam view,......ever..... it's just wrong. You don't drive your own car by sitting 30ft up in the air behind it so don't race with it. Cockpit or nosecam work best to give you the best simulation as this is what the game is. It's not an arcade race game.

That view is actually a very accurate one to use if you are using a steering wheel and the monitor is treated as your windscreen. If the FOV is correct and the steering wheel in your hands is your wheel and not the one on the screen

As it is in rFactor I always change the FOV to a more realistic view and move my in cockpit view as far foreward as possible and I turn the cockpit steering wheel off. I end up looking through the windscreen but if I change to bonnet cam (if the view is properly setup up) it's almost exactly the same but without the graphical windscreen in view.

OK, I tried the cockpit view, much better - turning circle's attrocious though! lol

Oh, tried a demo of 'Dirt', ( I had all Colin McRae games when I had the PS, and enjoyed them);utter garbage - cars seem to 'float' rather than have even a semblence of grip, and what's with the American voiced navigator?

Go to the download section, download v1.150 free demo (basic front wheel drive cars but you do get to play around with a 2006 BMW Sauber F1 car. Then if you want to buy it you buy it online get a code. Then upgrade to V1.250.

Have a look under the Hall of Fame section for ones to start with, but then there's loads more too.

GTR2 is excellent, I tottally agree.

However, rfactor is just as awesome to drive, and there's more choice of cars. One player is a bit lamer, but the multiplayer is seriously good.

If you guys with GTR2 are prepared to Google, there is a super-accurate Nordschleife circuit download out there. It's easily the best rendition of the circuit I've come across, and is well scary to try in the Porsche 996 GT3 Cup car

Playing GTR2 at the moment and got to admit , it is pretty good.
Found it unbelievably frustrating at first though, but once you start to get a feel for it, it is a very good game.
