Powertrain warning light - urgent opinions needed
Discussion
Hi all,
Got a bit of a problem. Coming back from shopping today, the powertrain warning light came on. First time I've ever seen it. Car is a 2000 HSV GTS. Now, I have done two things with the car today:
- topped up and possibly overfilled the oil. Checked oil, was a bit low, so I put a litre in without thinking. Now it's a bit high, but still within the bit that says "Operating Range" on the stick.
- had car washed. They used power washers, so some might have got in and upset a sensor somewhere.
This is very poor timing as I'm off to Goodwood tomorrow morning, so any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated. IF it could be overfilling the oil, is that something to be concerned about or can I drive with it? Car and performance seems completely as normal otherwise.

Slight update - just been out for a drive in it to check. Light didn't come back on. Performance etc. still seems OK. Checked oil again and level now also seems slightly more normal. Perhaps having a whole litre chucked at it and then (just remembered this) only being driven for half a mile before stopping for a supermarket shop just upset it a bit?
Was it the Oil light or the check engine light?
My Oil light has come on before when accelerating enthusiastically! It had also happened on the drag strip. The engine needed an oil top up. I do service mine every 5000km and it was near the end of this cycle.
If it was the check engine light...you may need to get a TECH2 or similar to read the code to find out the problem.
