993 tyre pressures
Discussion
My 993 C2 is currently runing on 16 inch wheels (this may change) but for the moment, I'd be glad to hear experiences re the right tyre pressures.
The handbook's recommended 36/44 seems way too high -- and I know there's been much discussion about this on rennlist but I'd like to hear from PHers...

Melv wasn't that a 964 ???
For road use It would be ok to drop a couple of pounds, but would really go below 40 at the back.
Track work is different as with the heat generated and weight distributed at the back end the pressures go up on a 911 generally.
Play around but don't go too low as you may affect the handling or tyre wear characteristics.
On my 996 it also reccomends 36-44 as have all carreras since 1990....i run 35 41 which makes it a little more comfortable...yet handles fine.

I stick to 36/44 with 18" wheels because I don't want to risk damaging a wheel on one of the many potholes, lumps and bumps around here. Running lower pressures increases the chances of damage with lower profile rubber. It's probably less important with more tyre sidewall to soak up the impact though. I did try lower pressures all round for a while, but it didn't really help the ride, and the fuel consumption suffered, so I switched back again.
