Giving the car some beans last night over 100mph.The bonnet started to lift alot.
Lifting the bonnet up and looking underneath at the fixing bolts they are loose in the bonnet rivnut which is in the reinforcement bulge.
You can lift the bonnet with your hand and see movement around the rivnut.
How do you make this more secure?
Are all our cars like this?
Can i buy a bulge (don't know what there called)and how is it fixed to the hood.
Or is this a bodywork man job?
Thanks for any of your help.
This was posted on the chimarea site but had no luck.

You'll find this is a regular thing on ALL TVR's.
BUT as for your finding the nut loose and can lift bonnet with your hand i'm sure someone with some more know-how will advise soon.

My bonnet popped up on my S3 last week whilst driving along. Luckily I wasn't hooning along but just dawdling so could pull up quite easily and relatch it. The bonnet had other ideas though. Grease monkey at the garage adjusted something and the bonnet is nice and secure now.....I hope.

I had such a thing happen when I was doing ..... mph once. Snapped one of those crappy little plastic bonnet pins. Leven sorted it out for me with a couple of nice new alloy ones.

the bulge is not expensive £20-30 but it needs bonding onto the bonnet which is where the cost comes if you can't DIY it

Thanks snorky,
Any clues where i can get a bulge from? or is a case of ringing round.
I assume it has the rivnuts already bonded in it.

The bulge is bonded to the underside of the bonnet, and there are half a dozen or so pop rivets holding it to the leading edge of bonnet. My biggest problem getting it off was the bolts holding the brackets were seized and wouldnt undo to allow removal of the rose joint hinges. Hope yours is easier to remove.
