Fuel pump suppressor thingamibob

Any idea's as to what value is required? Mine has broken and suspect it has been dis for a while. Tin worm has eaten any legend if there ever was one. Its the one that is from the yellow to the chassis so assume its suppression. May be able to piece out the broken wire but its off far into the rubber moulding.

Sounds like you're describing an RF suppression capacitor on the pump, which may have been added for some reason.

Some cars also have a dropping resistor in series with the pump to slow it down, reduce the noise and increase pump life. I doubt this is what you're talking about though, because it this failed the pump wouldn't run at all.

Thanks for the reply. There was a fault (pump not running) but its cleared and working again (without me being able to attribute it to going to get the multimeter and working by the time I got back). I popped under to check the terminals when I spotted it and sort of ruled it out as a liability more of suppression. The pump lucar ends were extremely slack though. Might have been the cause of my woes, along with a chattering relay.

Suppose its try without and see what happens to the radio.
