NO OIL PRESSURE

Just thought i would share a little problem i had recently. On returning from the mot with a big smile on my face, my s3 passed,one of the hoses blew off spilling coolant every where. Eventually got home and sorted the hose problem but then when i drove the car again the oil pressure gauge would show no more than 25 psi on tickover and not much more when driving thru the gears.I checked the oil level etc and everything was ok.Looked in the bible it said sometimes when the car has overheated the oil pressure sender can stick and give a false reading.It suggested a gentle tap can sometimes free it. A few gentle taps later, oil pressure reading now zero! I removed the unit and a small amount of oil and gunge spilled onto the floor. cleaned the unit and the electrical connection, replaced it oil pressure reading now near 50 psi at tickover. May have been blocked slightly,may have been sticking,maybe a bad connection. Moral of my story dont think the worst, persevere. Hope this is of help to someone out there.
