Audi S4 (B5) cam belt failure
Discussion
I've got a 98 S4 avant (b5 - biturbo) which has just snapped it's cam belt. It's got 91.5k on the clock. It's got full Audi service history & had the belts done at 76.5k by them in sept 04. It was services at ~86k also about 18 months ago.
Should I expect the cam belt to last longer than about 15k miles?! When they did the job, it included the rollers & aux belts etc. Surely, although out of the 24 months parts warranty given by Audi, there's something which states it must be fit for purpose or have an expected life span.. the interval is 60k miles!
The car is currently with the local dealer to investigate (my cost, 75 quid) & hopefully I'll get a quote to repair out of it & we can start discussions. But they are already signs of them trying to avoid any possible claim. Does anyone know where I stand?
Thanks
