Aren't they dangerous and aren't some people just inconsiderate with them?!!

A bit tongue in cheek but you know who I mean...the people who push in, pop the umbrella up and block your view. Even those with a good Gore-tex coat with a decent hood.

grrrrrr!!

Yes it's hard enough finding a space in the crowds to get a decent view anyway, and the wall of umbrellas effectively partitioned off the track in places! rolleyes

No I'm glad I left it in the car, you selfish umbrella carrier you! tongue out (but you were at least considerate with yours and it wasn't a huge golfing one!)

I don't get why people need a huuuuuge umbrella just for themselves? So many times at Goodwood I skipped through a huge queue by putting down our little umbrella (shared between two too!) and just walked underneath the queue of numpties with their 10 footers.

We had a golfing-type brolly, and it was awkward at times, but we only had it up for the worst rain and for when I was photographing (keep rucksacks and camera as dry as possible), as we had rainproof coats as well.

I did think they were going to be a problem for spectators (seemed to be at times), but there's not a lot you can do...you either get wet or block someone else's view.

Agree with all. Although we did not want one, they were £40 in the Goodwood shop. Probably imported, so profit margin in the region of %400!!!!

How many people got hit in the face while walking by a mardy looking woman!? I know it wasnt just me as i saw a bloke in a delightful suede suit give someone a right dressing down by the startline.

What I dont understand is that woman hold their umbrellas at approximately 5'7'' which is slap bang at the level of my eyes and womens umbrellas innexplicably have uncovered shary metal spikes all around the edges. Blokes ones which are way out of eyeline have plastic covers.

My wife was doing that (5'3" tall). Sadly it was my head she was hitting...but at least it was plastic-tipped!!!
