... simply awesome yes

My earlier stupid beyond stupid escapades were somewhat softened by a trip out into the countryside across to Beverley for tea in Vicki's new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.

What a beautiful, big, luxurious, quiet, great to drive car this is ... I love it, and a far far better option than the BM 525 Sport that she nearly bought.

Rubbish pics but you get the idea smile

Guess which bit Gabby likes best?

Hi Stu - how's the new place?

Not too bad, 125 top end and 9 secs to 60 ... although it feels like you could pull a battleship whilst you're doing it. Sit at 70 on the motorway and you feel like you're doing 40 ... one would imagine, hypothetically of course, that at 90 it would feel like 60, with barely a murmur from what is a very smooth diesel lump indeed. Sat at 70 it will give you 27 mpg, although you could very easily get into low teens I would imagine smile

Hi Marcus smile ... good to see you at Le Mans, in fact, you are the only other PH face I saw outside of our group except for Willo and his Mosler!

Next year I will take more time to go social visiting yes

I've got one at the moment as someone decided to try thier luck at making it through a red light only to encounter our X5 (which was occupied by the wife & 6 month old child).

Its pretty well kitted out, however is the pedal on the right actually an accelerator or is it a volume control. I only ask as well you press it the noise levels go up but f@ck all else happens. The one we have is the 3 litre CRD.

Thats a funny way to put it....
The yanks have a long way to go to catch up with the likes of the latest BMW/Audi diesels. That said, doesn't Chrysler use Merc derv lumps?

Family are fine which is the only thing that matters. I dread to think what the outcome may have been it they had been in the Porsche.

The held up remarkably well. To say someone drove into the driver side door square on at circa 30mpg+, from the inside you couldn't tell it had even been hit (apart from the numberous airbags hanging off all over).

Driver of other car was hauled off by the police, to appear in court at a later date. Only a young kid with a couple of mates. He's lucky to have walked away without injury as the damage to his car was significant.

As for the Jeep. I think when they designed the steering they must have had motorbike riders in mind as prospective purchasers. I only come to this conclusion as when you turn the round thing infront of you it doesn't as such start turning, more just instigates how much the vehicle leans hehe

Can't wait for the return of the X5.

In it's defense:

a) It's American (see what I did with the spelling there biggrin )

b) I'd guess we paid about £15 Grand less than your X5 would have been!

Ok, it isn't the fastest, best handling truck out there, but Vic absolutely loves it, and I have to say, so do I yes

Glad to hear no-one was hurt Mark.

To be honest, once you get it up to speed its ok. Its just round town that its a bit of a pain.

Well kitted out inside (well apart from the hideous coloured interior ours has), although like the X5 why can't you use postcodes in the Satnav ? Its a pain having to type street names, etc, in when 6 or 7 digits should do it all.

Oh, and how warm do the seats get. Jees.

oh yes a right royal pain in the ass. I put it down to them putting in the cheapest system they could, which flies in the face of all the other really good stuff the car has.
