You should accelerate progressively up the hill..

You can hear him lift, as he takes the right kerb.. rear end becomes light and unsettled, and it's game over!

It is the most perfect example, of 911 lift off oversteer.

Damn , it hurt watching it , looks like it went so easy but i guess thats the difference between a good driver and an ok/poor driver.

With no power on the back of the car would become extremely light and difficult to control if he had put his toe down he could of caught the back end and drove it through the bend.

Steve, do you think over inflated rear tyre pressures, might have played a small part.. ?

He was hard on the gas came over the top of the crest, the back went a bit lighter plus he was turning over to the left (why?), he didn't steer into it fast enough, then to much to late, back came around the other way onto the curb game over. Harsh result for a small mistake but there ya go.
It's very easy to be critical of both clips from the comfort of your office chair, but both did look like easy saves to me.

Entry speed is critical in Eu rouge because the car gets lighter as it goes up the hill and if you lift to trim speed off up the hill or at the crest you will get oversteer, if you get the line wrong and try to adjust it on the way up the hill, you may well get oversteer. In Eu rouge, you must get your entry speed right and your line right as you enter the corner. Whatever else happens you must use the power on the way up the hill as it helps settle the rear but too much can help unsettle it. Also the curbs on the right hand side can unsettle the car as it loads up. Every time I go ther I see a GT3 crash there. In the open race a Cup car was written off there. During testing the day before, 3 cars were very badly damaged there. It's a corner that demands precise and controlled driving.

Poor Sod.

It made me go cold watching that... I almost wanted to correct the slide for him ( or at least attempt to) just a bit more steering control and a bit more throttle I think he would have driven through the slide he inadvertently started by lifting off at the wrong moment... but after the initial opposite lock failed due to not enough steering input and throttle he was really a passenger.

I hope he had track day insurance as that looks like an expensive lesson to learn -

Bedford is the place to find out just how good/bad a driver you are... at least there is a much less chance of doing major damage.
