Anybody had problems with this?

I live in SE London, but very rarely need to visit The Zone. Anyway today, I was up in north London, and had to come home via Southwark. No problem, thought I, I'll pay it when I get home.

Anyway, got home a couple of hours ago. Had a bite, and went a-surfing. Could get the cclondon web page (more than I could the other day when I was looking!), but whenever I clicked on the "pay now" button it came up with a "not available" page.

At 9ish, I decided I'd ring them. Searched the site for the phone number. Used their awful "questions and answers" page (displays 2 Q&As on each minute page!), and it didn't have a phone number. After 10 minutes gave up and found the phone number on a car hire website!.

After my first two 90 second phone calls ended up with me being cut off as they had no operators free (ie, I wasn't even getting into the phone queue!).

By 9.30pm I had grabbed my car keys and was just going out to do a driveby on all my local petrol stations to try to find one with a PayPoint.

(for the uninititated, the charge goes up to 10 pounds at 10pm - earlier is an "early paying discount" what a load of shite, either it's a fiver or it's not!)

Anyway, finally managed to get through at about 9.45pm.

Has anybody else has problems like this!? I did everything I should, and I nearly had to pay double. Plus I endured a severe amount of stress (had visions of spending 3 hours on the phone and getting an 80 quid fine) and wasted half my evening.

Is it like this every day!? If so, something should be done. And that website is fcuking atrocious!

I hate the con charge, but the easiest way to pay is register your car on the net =(cc details)and opt to pay by text
Once this is set up all you do is on day of travel text last 4 numbers of credit card to 81099(i think)
You get a reciept texted back
easiest way i found

All very well if you know you're going to use it - kinda screws you up if you only know half an hour in advance like me today! :-O

Irony : the complaints page doesn't work either!

It's not a problem - managed to pay on the phone in the end. I just think it's laughable that I've been trying to get the payment window open on the web site for the last 3 hours, with no luck.

Also the register for mobile phone link doesn't work either.

Can somebody check to see if it works for them? Can't see why it would be a problem as everything else is fine for me though......

Nope.

Even now, after resetting my internet connection and killing everything else, I can get the main page up (www.cclondon.com), but as soon as I click the "Pay charge" or "Pay now by text message" icons it just brings up up "page cannot be displayed" page.

Pretty sure it's not my config, everything else works fine...

Why not keep proof of attempt to pay and impossibilty thereof, and then wait for the scum to try to cash in, in court that is!!!!
There must be a simple way to conveniently pay such a charge, and not have to go through a rigmarole which doesn't even work!If enough people do that and NOT fall over when they demand money with menaces it should clog up the legal system for about a thousand years............
Londoners should execute that commie do-gooder w*nker barsteward Livingstone (a disgrace to the name apart from everything else)

It's a disgrace that they can impose the penalty from 10pm. Even for those of us who drive in often, are registered with membership cards and have thus shown general intention to pay, forgetting once because, for instance, you got stuck in a meeting, results in strict liability. Ken is beneath contempt.
