Iris Blue 993 Targa - "Evo Triangle", Saturday 23 June
Discussion
On the way back from a day-trip to North Wales on Saturday, I thought I'd take a minor detour on the journey back to Cheshire and try out the "Evo Triangle" where the magazine does a fair chunk of its road-testing.
On the A543 stretch, heading up out of Pentre Foelas, I happened across an Iris Blue 993 Targa (reg. M 340 ***, I think) and slowed to allow him to pull out of the lay-by where he was parked up.
I then followed him up to the top of that "side" of the triangle, where he parked up just before the turning onto the B4501 that takes you back down to the A5. Judging by the way he apparently knew which of the blind corners and rises he had to brake for and which he didn't, he knew the roads quite well......
Anyone on here? If so, hello and thanks for the short-but-sweet convoy!

Glad you enjoyed yourself up there LL.
Stunning roads, but plenty of opportunities for some "unscheduled off-roading" and "airborne moments" around the Triangle if you don't know the road well

I can well imagine that there is plenty of scope for getting it wrong!
It was the first time I had been up there so lack of familiarity with the roads, plus the presence of the Left Seat Brake
, meant I was taking it easy. It was a bit easier to "press on" when following Mr Iris Blue as I could simply follow his lead.I shall certainly be back to give it another go at some point

It was Ian (ism123) driving his 993C2 and I was the passenger. Thanks for letting us out. We thought that you weren't trying hard enough! We parked up to prepare a few 'drive-by' photos.

As above, I'm blaming not knowing the roads but mostly having a nervous missus onboard for not being at maximum attack! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

I figured you were probably taking snaps in the lay-by where I first saw you and then when you pulled off again just as I turned. Nice looking car - and so much cleaner than my own!
ETA: The missus and I both thought it was a Targa based on the little bit we could see sticking up on the roof, which looked like the front wind-deflector on the Targa roof. Didn't get close enough to notice the Carrera badge on the back!

1st time up there and the roads were awesome. Will be going back asap. Pics from the day:
