Hi Guys,

I've just taken a bunch of shots for my company. Just simple stuff, pretty much mug shots for the face book at work. So visiters can put a face to a name. I done this as a favour because the previous ones were shocking and I wanted mine to look better than it did. Vain............ yup wink

Now I've been asked to cover a marketing event that they would normally get someone in for, or at least get one of the lower level members of staff to do with a point and shoot and pay them overtime.

They have said that they want these for marketing purposes and the company is a big multi national law firm. So my question is this, should I suggest that they pay me for this? One thing to bear in mind is that it will be out of office hours.

If I should request payment, what amount should I suggest to them? Pay me in accordance with the overtime structure plus expenses? (time and a half) which wouldn't be too bad. The only problem here is that the level that I'm on I am technically no longer entitled to overtime.

The event is a marketing function that our clients are attending and will start at 5pm and go on till pretty late. This will be over 2 evenings.

Cheers for any advice.

Matt.

You could work out a usage-based price from the Alamy site, or use the NUJ Freelance fees guide here, which quotes rates based on client, type of work, and for both commissioned and stock photography. Remember the guide gives mimimum recommended fees - you might think you're worth more. smile

Hi, I am a photographer and I charge £ 395 (+ V.A.T and expenses) to cover an evening funtion assuming no more than 5 hours and it being reasonably local. The copyright is shared. The necasary Photoshop time afterwards shouldn't be forgotten.
