Simplish.
Plank under the sump and put a trolley jack under it.
I took the mount and the bracket it bolts to in one go, then repainted the bracket too.
Its not a major job, just a bit fiddly.

Basic (ish) mechanical, car on axle stands & trolley jack to support/position engine biggrin

Oh & lots of spanners till you find the best angle/length one for the job smile then never loose it frown

If poss support the engine at the front where the sump bolts are, the later 'gooed' sump seems very easy to pop if you use the sump pan to bear the load.

Dropping the sump might be worthwhile next time you do an oil change anyway, unless you have checked for scilly bits already wink.

Cheers Dave, will block it at the front as you say.The strength of the sump pan was my main concern.Regards,Dave.

Obviously with your pretty Griff you will need to use platinum plated spanners and a plank with gold leaf inlaid in it Dave hehe

Are you going to any other events this year Dave??

cheers

Best if you've got some 17mm adjustable head ratchet spanners as its a ballsache without (took me 4 hours) - now got some adjustable ratchet spanners!!!
Big piece of wood under the sump to spread the load and you should be OK.

Hi,finally got round to attempting the mounts[waited until after the Growl]but struggled.Removed all the nuts and bolts, supported the engine but could'nt get the mount past the chassis upright. Is this the correct way or does the mount stay on the plate then remove the mount and plate as one? Thanks, regards Dave.Hi Graham ,sadly cannot afford platinum tools but I do have a nice bit of walnut to support the engine.

Just ordered 2 for the BV. Changed Andrea's about 2 years back and it was fiddly but not impossible.
Good luck Dave.

Hi Ian,had a look at removing the plate but seemed almost impossible to get on the 8mm bolt, top of the plate, passenger side[the bottom two larger bolts are quite easy].Regards,Dave.

Yep, that sounds about right. You have to get it a tiny bit at a time, flipping the spanner over to get a proper edge. It is very very tight to get a spanner in. Once its moving though I could flip the bolt around with the edge of my finger. Its a damned site easier to get back in because you can clean the threads and copaslip the bolt.

Get to use them this time - should reduce the time in half.

When my local indy changed the engine mounts it turned out that on one side the plate wasn't connected to the engine anymore, the bolts loosened itself somehow and dissapeared. They checked the remaining bolts and found that they were all loose, you could turn them by hand. So we got new bolts to replace the missing three and used Loctite to make sure they would not come loose again. Copaslip would be the last thing they were going to put on the bolts. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will com along and correct me.

Copper slip is fine, IIRC they should have spring lock washers on.
