Apologies for sounding like a numpty but do 996 GT2's have rear seats – I know they don’t have roll cages so assume rear seats are left in place - if not should it be an easy retro fit (unlike Gt3 ?) ?

Also is there a good source to find out the history of a particular GT2 – I am tempted at one I know is for sale , unfortunately it is through an acquaintance of an acquaintance of a friend and therefore I know little of it’s life – it has bucket seats and no centre console which I assume suggests some spirited driving.

Last question I understand there was a facelift of the GT2 in 2003 – other than a new carbon spoiler any other changes?

Cheers

There are no rear seats regardless of roll cage. Not sure about the missing centre console. The facelift has at least different wheels, carbon spoiler as you say and 460->480bhp.

Oh, and get one. Now.

Very tempted …

looking for something special to scare myself with - not so tame that I will be tempted to drive it to work and not so crazy that I will ….make a widow of my wife

Rear seats would be nice, but not compulsory …

Guess a vewing is one the cards …

cheers

Fixed Leather Recaro's were standard fayre and the centre console was an option and easily retro-fitted if required.

MKI Models were produced from 2001 to 2003 with 462bhp, MKII Models of which only 16 RHD produced had a more aggressive ecu map producing 483bhp, along with revised suspension geometry, a smattering of carbon and GT3 style wheels. wink

If your looking for an adrenalin rush then the 996GT2 is the kiddie...

As with any top end performance car, get it thoroughly checked over before you hand over your hard earned and then welcome back to the thrill of driving!

...I'd also recommend getting Porsche bodyshop to do paint depth test which will show up any damage.

Talking of GT2's for sale, anyone heard what's happened to that infamous Gumball car?

shame really since henry said you would get 50 for it all day long, and there are other repaired GT2's without the planetary racing miles struggling to fetch 45k at the moment.

id feel a bit like a kipper if i was you tbh.

What is the going rate for a nice GT2?..Also if the car had been damaged but repaired by OPC would this reduce the asking price?
I assume they are all the same spec, so ime guessing milage/over all condition and service history are the only points to be aware of. Finaly if you bought from OPC would you get another independant to check for car over..or is that the ultimate cheek??
Ime wondering if money would be better sat in a GT2 Than in a 997 2s as a keeper for a long timer sort of car.Any help much appreciated.

Going rate seems to be £55k-£70k. Given that most have done a big percentage of depreciation, I'd say you'll lose a lot less on a GT2 than a 997 2s.

Are the GT2 height adjustable from factory? I intend to trade my 996 Turbo for a GT2 but the roads here and garage ramp makes the TT's height the lowest possible setting.

If you struggle with height/bad roads in a TT DO NOT buy a GT2 - the car is MUCH lower and MUCH less tolerant of bad roads - I regularly have to take detours to avoid speedbumps, etc which are out of the question in the GT2

Kipper, not really, i Did not buy the car with any thoughts on Money. As a few of my friends who drive Aston's, GT3's and Ferraris will confirm Im at the destination first and have the biggest grinsmile

If that experience costs me 10-15k because there something cheaper out there, then so be it, its been worth every penny. I did not buy the car to speculate I bought it to drive every day.
