Not everything that is few in number is worthy of such a number!!jester or what...
Just think of a number triple it and stick half a million on for good measure...still one born every day I guess.

I happen to agree with that sentiment, but others would come on here and defend the car's rarity and provenance and use that to justify the price....

How much is an ERA worth?...ex Bira would be nice or how about "Remus"? Or a ex Chiron Bugatti T35B?...or a Birkin Bentley? Those are the sort of yardstick by which I'd value any historic racing car...

A proper 2.7RS is probably a better car and would be circa £100k.

For sure its rare but thats the most overpriced 911 i have ever seen.

There must be some fvkcing good drugs doing the rounds in their area.

LMFAO

hehe

Shall I see if they can do my 996 on sale or return? It must be worth well over £200k as it was on the cover of Total911 and Derek Bell has driven it. Once.

I would defend the car's rarity and provenance,if its all correct. 911r are commanding good money, why should they not. Some how its ok for a ferrari GTO to be x£ and a even rarer 911 not!The 73 rsr has recently been changing hands between 425 and 500,so the price may not be that far out.
It will possibly sell if the US dollar changes its trend.
The engine alone again if its correct in numbers and parts is a good £50k worth.

The Chereau Gt2 has been for sale for a long time, may be a reason for this! Also Dont forget the engine rebuild £.

A car (or anything for that matter) is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it....so lets see what happens.

Not tosh at all.
If You know the market place for these types of cars, you would know its correct.
Not talking it up,its nothing to do with me,just stating the market place.
Although the price is on the top side for sure, for this the car would need to have 100% traceable history, and 95% correct parts.

Fbrs i agree on the gt2 ,40k for a inspection, good profit if you can get it!

I was fortunate enough to spend a day with this 911R, doing the cover feature for the current edition of 911 & Porsche World. As I say at the end, the Mona Lisa is only a bit of canvas with some paint on it but the historic worth greatly inflates its value.

The rebuild for this 911R cost more money than you'd imagine and the results speak for themselves - it is perfect in every respect. The fact that it's unique in being bodied in aluminium instead of fibreglass as the other three prototype Rs were makes it worth more, especially in light of its win on the Marathon de la Rue.

As others have remarked, let's wait and see what happens regarding its sale but I'm certain it'll find a home, even at that price.
