Hi,

We have a 1991 golf gti 8v, totally standard with no modifications with 61k on the clock, it's a really clean example. Thing is we have no idea which insurance company to try for a realistic valuation. We are with Privilege at mo but they will only insure for market value, think that's about £700 when clearly these cars vary in value as to condition etc, any advice who to try?

Thanks

HIC or Brentacre are always a good starting point.

Both offer competitve quotes and both offer agreed valuation, you have to pay for it, think its about £15 but it will guarantee you the agreed sum in event of a total loss claim.

dont know if you've sorted this yet but ring HIC. Ive just got a quote for my 16v and its about half what i paid last year. The can prob cover this car as a classic. Your milage will be limited to 7500 but you have an agreed value on buy back included. As well as track day cover and VERY cheap quote.
