I need to get my oil pressure/water temperature gauge repaired. Any idea whether I can plug the holes so I can drive the car while it is away?

The fans are controlled independently (separate sender) so you could do it. However, if you have no gauge, how can you tell if there really is a problem when the gauge is disconnected?

The gauge has failed anyway so I have no idea how hot the engine is running.

I appreciate that, all I'm saying is you're taking a punt driving it without gauges. If you're just taking it to the menders and the trip is mainly open roads, then no worries, if not it's a calculated risk.

What do you mean "plug the holes"?

I'm asuming he means how does he stop water/oil p155ing out the holes when he takes out the senders ! smile

I think the oil pressure is elctric, so that should unplug. The water though will need a bolt putting back in the senders place.

I'm in a similar position - have got access to a spare (dead) gague/sender, so will find a suitable bolt & report the findings.....
(although I've been meaning to do this for over a month & haven't yet !)
