I am looking to buy some sort of speed camera detector, eventually i will buy diffusers, but at the moment i just need a bit of warning! The problem is i what shall i get, personally if i were to buyt a radar detector i am leanigntowards a Bell 550, but should i get a radar, or a GPS?!! Which one? Eentually (Call me paranoid, but i had a gatso go off on the M25 whils doing quit a high speed and its scared the living out of me, i am slowing down but we all have 'silly' moments!) i want to get a radar and GPS and Diffusers, but i only have about 350 to 400 to spend now. What would somebody recomend?

Thanks in advance

For that money I would go Road Angel GPS - no false alarms, and an excellent unit all round (for 400 notes you will also get the laser detector bit with it)

I have one myself and cant fault it

I agree the road angel is superb, I also have the Bel 990 which is the older version of the 550 and use both in the car. IMHO the RA is better and with scameras etc all going the way of laser and digital recording stuff I think you will find the old radar emitting types will be sold to developing countries!!

Cool i think i will look into it a bit more as regards which GPS one to get as there are so many out there, The other thing i was looking at was the snooper with radar, i just think two sperate units might function better, I must look into it. Does anyone have the Origin Blue I or the touch screen one, i think its made by geodesy?

Has anyone got the geodesy plus, the one with the touch screen? i use my car for work quite a lot and it can log you business millage, not that i need to know, but its just that i would be interested. Also i am a sucker for anything with a big light up touch screen and a big plastic gadget on the dashboard! But seriously, i like the idea of the blue origin i knowing what road you are on, and i like the idea of the geodesy plus (I keep calling it that i don't actually know what it is called!) i like the map so you can see any other camers around you. But then i also like the idea of how simple road Angel is and no exernat arials Help me!! i need to find out what to buy! Although with your guys help i am definitally gonna get a GPS sytem

Road Pilot is the Geodesy Plus thingy - I quite like the look of it, and it's future-proof err, -ness, but with a laser detector(or was it radar?) it's £750!!

Yeah i think i might go for that one all though it has no laser. Has onyone who has a GPS laser attachment ever actually had it go off? I.E catch the scatter off another car? also anyone have a road pilot that can comment?

I have the Road Angel Laser Alert, and find it very easy to use and it works great. Have only had it 2 weeks and have not met a mobile laser yet, so can't advise how well the laser detector works.
I haven't had any false Alarms on the laser sensor like you would get with a radar detector.

Its just from what i have heard from other people, if the alarm goes off it normaly means you have been caught, so i might just get a road pilot, although a bit pricy at 500 quid, anyone know where to get a chaeper one?

try the paper, i think they go quite cheaply from people who've lost their licenses. which begs a question...
