I've seen an almost mint 930 turbo which appears mechanically and cosmetically very good... Only snag is that it had an engine bay fire very early in its life and was an insurance write off. All this has been put right now after several years and A LOT of money, however the insurance company has kept the service book etc and as such there is nothing to show for it's history mileage etc?

How concerned should I be?

Yes I would fsh is I think a must on a Porsche or is it just me?.
There are loads 911 out there with all the paper work and no hassles.
The unknown on anything is risk your money your call.

Good luck let us know how it goes.

Isn't a 930 getting to the point where condition is more important than mileage anyway?

If this is a long term classic keeper of a car I wouldn't be to worried, if

a) It's in good condition.
b) It's history is reflected in the price.

I bought my one on condition amd after a four year search after viewing 12 others and many PPI's done on so called mint and good ones. My one has the big folder of bills and work service history no gaps and somethimes serviced before it needed to as well .Once again price comes into play also what year the later ones are the best 87-89 plus the colour as well .

Just did Le mans and back on a full tank and 1/4 each way run like a dream what a trip .

I've just bought an SC with zero service history and a bent engine, but the rest was perfect and the price was right... Depends on how much the seller wants...

I'm always suspicious of a huge folder of bills. After all, why should the huge bills stop if I bought the car? Would indicate a lemon to me smile

Well he's asking 20k which is a bit much considering its fire and how much it’s been played with, the body kit, etc to get it right….

Check it out…. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/187569.htm

With that mileage but insufficient history to back it up I’m not so sure….

Ah - so it is indeed too good to be true - why aren't these vendors upfront about this sort of thing?

Why not get a later more original one with no exciting history and cheaper, I like the look of this one and £18k is pretty good value for an 89 with G50

That used to be my car.
It has a full history with no hidden surprises, and at £18k for a 5 speed 930 represents good value.
