Okay - So I can't stop the squeel on these brakes - tried pads and disks.... what are the upgrade options?

Can't stop mine squeeling either. Must be global warming or something.

Ceramics - no squeak - bloody expensive.

I stopped mine from squeeling by taking the pads out and cleaning the slot down the middle. Then chamfering the top edge, as the pads were slightly bigger than the disk and I think the ridge that wore was causing the squeeling along the rusty edge of the disk.

It doesn't squeal now - only the tyres smile

Anything cheaper.... donated from other cars? Something from a different model of TVR?

I sorted this problem on my other car a few weeks ago by putting vaseline (as stupid as it sounds) between the pads and the calipers instead of copper slip. It was my mate who's a mechanic that told me thats what they always use. I thought it would have melted off but seemed to do the trick.

Is the squeeling due to the pads glazing with heat? surely grooved discs would cure it??

many threads on this subject try a search. Ive heard many cures try anti squel shims behind the pads or silicone the pad to the cylinder. try a chamfer on the leading edge mine used to be terrible and the silicone cured mine but only temporary in the end i had to get new discs and pads so i got a brake upgrade from TCS and i havnt had any more problems.

It has been with Leven, they're tried different types of pads and their top secret magical technique... but to no avail, it shut up for a while but is back. Doesn't squeel so bad in the rain and not that much when slowing from higher speeds either, just that last 20 / 25mph - 0 range.

I've heard of Focus RS brakes on Chimaeras before... wondered if there was a similar sort of common-road donor that could lend itself to worry-free braking in a Cerb.

Perhaps it's the way Sir drives it? Are you wearing the pads too much and the dust is just building up quickly?

Don't drive it that hard most of the time to be honest. Though a quick slowdown from 130leptons did shut it up for 10 minutes (and yes I did say most of the time, not all the time)

What pads are fitted?

Anti-squeal shims, coppaslip and other ideas like thin rubber pads on the rear face of the pads work because they change the resonant frequency of the braking system. I've been advised to try the thin rubber pads on the back of my car. Bought them ages ago... really must get on and fit them.
