OK well sods ing law being what it is this week, the tyre place have damaged the edge of one of my alloys - through the lacquer to the metal and sods law I didn't notice it until I got home so there's every chance they will say "we didn't do it" frown

Anyway, standard 17" Boxster Allow wheel - does anyone know the cost of one? OPCs are now shut and whilst I'd want original I don't know if there are cheaper sources?

I've got a feeling a refurb won't look right or the same finish as the others?

Some refurbs can look OK. If the tyre place have the decency to admit liability it is unlikely they will pay for more than a refurb.

Best place for a replacement is ebay or Ph clasifieds.

Cheers, 50/50 isn't it I suppose, if they say "no you left the premises" I can see their point, I should have checked more thoroughly, though at the end of the day they still did the damage.

Have a feeling this is going to work out a very expensive nail smile

My refurbs done at Lepsons were nigh on perfect, including the edges.

You could also try ebay, where there are often single genuine wheels for sale. I've been able to source some quite elusive bits and pieces via online auctions.

Hopefully we have a result. I damn near fell off my chair when the OPC said £450 for a new allow, oh that's without the VAT too.

They quoted £60-120 for a smart repair or refurb depending what the "chap who does all that stuff" thought and of course I guess that included Porsche Tax plus a contribution to a courtesy car which is fair enough.

Anyway I went to the tyre place and they were alright about it, gave me the number of a place and said "they'll sort it and they'll invoice us directly".

Called the chap and they're mobile and they also do work for Nottingham OPC - being a cynical git I called Nottingham OPC afterwards to verify this.

Basically it should be sorted out on Monday. I've calmed down a bit now, I'm still pissed off that the guy who fitted the tyre didn't say anything but as a company "shit happens", I didn't spot it, and they've said they'll put it right so fingers crossed.
