Was it a real Countach in Canonball Run 1?
Discussion
I have been reading another thread on here regarding the black Lamborghini Countach featuring in the first Cannonball Run film. I answered saying that it was a replica and only had a V8 engine. I hope I havent given the wrong information here as I always knew it to be that way. Can anyone verify the truth about the car?
Someone posted this link regarding the actual car:

This is what I had been told over the years by so many people. Replica or not, that intro re-awakens something in me each time I see it. I remember watching it as a little boy and my reactions to it never change - one of the most exciting intros into any film I have ever seen!

The Countach in Cannonball Run & Cannonball Run 2 were both real. There is another film called Cannonball Fever...Lambos not so real!
There was only one Miura pushed into the river in The Italian Job. It was real, but if you look closely, the engine was missing as it fell down the slope.

thought the Miura used was real enough in the Italian job BUT the bits of bodywork and other metal that 'crashed' were just that - bits of metal, some with orange paint on them...
I wish to admit to what's a gaping chasm in my education (other than never doing any woodwork that didn't involve me being able to mallet my own hands or drop chisels on my own and other lads feet just to get out of doing any more of it) - brace yourselves:
I've never been able to watch the Cannonball Run all the way through.
there, I have confessed and feel very relieved to have done so, forgive me if you want to or not, as you wish but that's the way it is
it is one of those films that just makes me go zzzzzzzzzzzzz in a few minutes, like Memento and like Reservoir Dogs...

The Countach was briefly available with Yank V8 power for customers who wanted an auto box. I don't think they made too many - it was aimed at the USA market and was sold alongside the V12.
This has got to be the best bit of 'PUB' talk I've ever heard, what a load of unsubstantiated tosh!Maxf said:

It has the beautiful front mounted wing that was designed to get around American import laws requiring a minimum front bumper hight
Beautiful? One of them eye of the beholder moments again. I recorded the intro to the 2nd film and had it on a tape in my Nova when I was young. It made me drive in a very spirited manner.
I've seen the 1st and 2nd films many times but I don't think I've ever seen the 3rd one
