Want a simple satnav with European maps for hols. Narrowed it down to the Tomtom One Europe or the Garmin nuvi 250. Both cost £200 & have similar spec. I was about to get the Tomtom, but the man in Halfords was pretty persuasive that the Garmin has better graphics & more importantly better customer service. I think it might look a bit cuter too but now I'm feeling confusedconfused

The TomTom has the advantage (for me) of being one that more of my social crowd have, so sharing itineraries is a snap. I've not needed TT support yet, so I can't say whether it's good or bad.

You get the added bonus of Speed Scamera data on the Nuvi,
Whereas I believe with the Tomtom is only active for 6 months, as a taster thing.

I'd personally go with Garmin, they really are good units, Customer aftercare is also second to none.

It depends what you want.

Garmin has a very stubborn GUI. It's very user friendly, but you can't customise it and the route is pink (personal pet peeve, I got a Nuvi 660 at the moment). It also does not displace distance to go on the same screen as the map.

TomTom has issues too. It's a lot bulkier than the Garmin, which unless you are going to leave it in the car (not advisable) is a pain. Also, because of that, it wobbles on the mount, which you may find irritating. There is no way to cancel the route either.

TomTom has more stats on the screen than Garmin NuVi and updates your position on the map a lot smoother. Garmin on the other hand is probably more "user friendly"

Both will get you to your destination...

On a side note, for just over £200 you can get the top end models of the range from online shops and not the base models... (especially if you are not afraid of EBay)
