I hope you guys don't mind another "which one shall I buy" topics. I fell in love with the Caterham when I went on a track day at Donnington. I have now decided to sell my Cooper S and get a couple of cars. I think I will have about £8K to spend on the Caterham.
I see that this won't get me much but does anybody have any advice for me.
Should I consider a car from the Caterham main dealer?

Hi Ben,
For your £8k budget I don't think you will be able to buy any seven from a Caterham dealer at all. Much better to buy privately and maximise your spending power. Really it depends on what you want the car for. If its general use with the odd trackday thrown in, getting either a 135 BHP Xflow Supersprint or a maybe a 138 BHP K Series 1400 SS (supersport) with a few miles on it will do the trick. There is a very low mileage Xflow car within your budget with incredibly low miles on it and its a 5 speed De Dion car as well which seem to be more desirable. Otherwise you will be probably be looking at a 1600 8v VX car which puts around 100 bhp in standard form, although some have been tuned up to 135 BHP as well.
With any of these cars whilst they may seem low powered and less desirable for it, they will still out perform most other modern cars for the money and definitely give a far higher smiles per mile as well!!
