tempting fate here
as my engine is running sweet.
i've been looking at different engines for the cerb as i fancy a project when it eventually goes bang.
looking at the ls1 and even the ls2. then also found the ls7 as fitted in the latest vette.
all great engines but then started thinking along a different line, hows about the lump from an audi rs6? or maybe an m5 engine(the last v8 one, can't remember the model)
maybe even the noble/ford thing
any thoughts?

LS7 LS7 LS7 LS7 LS7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really, 500hp and 500lbft stock running on 92 octane fuel, over 600hp with cam swap, 427cu of old skool V8. I'm sure the M5 V10 would be awesome too, but the little I know of that engine it has about a gazillion different sensors that would make an install very hard going. The LS7 was due to be released with a 'hot rod' ECU link with only the bare essential inputs, infact they ran it on carbs and it gave the same bhp.

i've found the ls7 in crate form for about $13500, a lot of wonga but one helluva kick up the ass to go with it
do like the sound of an rs6 lump though
Im with longbow on this one, I believe the LS7 for all its claimed simplicity to be an absolutely mighty engine. Im not usually a fan of such cars, but I'd buy a C6 Z06 Corvette in future on the merits of that engine alone. do like the sound of an rs6 lump though

That's just part of it. You can add on a fair bit before you get it started, let alone rolling.Boosted.

IMHO the AJP V8 is what makes the Cerb, replace it and you lose the essence of what it's all about, and end up with a Corvette dressed up as a Cerb.
I could'nt agree more with the above! without all the pops n bangs ect it wouldnt be the same! plus being patriotic(hope its spelt correct?)it wouldnt be an entirely british built car! it would become just another "kit car",very nice looking kit car though! granted the LS7 shoved in there would make it silly fast though!Brummie - I'm not knocking your car, I was one of the many who congratulated you on it. it was an excellent job. I was just saying that in my opinion the AJP V8 is,to me, an essential part of the character of the car. It's a TVR with a unique TVR engine, and that is a BIG part of the attraction to me.
Would a Ferrari with an LS engine transplant lose something? or a Porsche 911 with a twin turbo V6 still be a 911?

In all fairness, no I haven't. And I'm sure your's would be feckin awesome. In a lot of ways an LS conversion makes sense in the head department'. But in the heart department I want an AJP V8 in a Cerb, I like that noisy, rough, harsh character and the pops and bangs.
But just say, someone criticised you for putting an LS in, I'd be the first to defend you cos I think it is pretty awesome what you have done, and I look forward to seeing the car one day. (Actually, no I don't, it might make me change my mind)

Mopar's new engine 392 (6.4 litre) 540 horsepower out of the box, and relatively cheap, sweet.
