Well, I thought I'd sneak down to SRR to see what my Cerbs pushing out ahead of Fighting Torque. She has always felt strong post-rebuild, but I had to be sure. Power curve was very smooth and AF ratio held steady at around 12.8 right up to 7000rpm. Car has a blueprinted engine (standard internals with 'whisper' cams), decatted with ACT sport exhaust. Charlie said its one of the smoothest 4.2 curves he's seen, as if it was a remapped car but its on the stock ECU. Torque was down on last time though at only 315lbft, but not complaining. But the best bit is the car is driving so well, doesn't use a drop of oil and hasn't missed a beat so far.

Was re-reading the first Autocar review of the 4.2 Cerb and my car seems to be replicating its stats extremely closely. Mine (all measured); Power 372bhp, Torque 315lbft, Weight 1190kg, 1/4 in 12.4 @ 115mph Autocar; Power 350bhp, Torque 320lbft, Weight 1177kg, 1/4 in 12.4 @ 117mph. woohoo Have to say though, I saw Nickcc's dyno plot of 440hp - that thing bust be completely ballistic - will be very interesting to see how it does on the 12th.

Longbow, you practically drove past my front door to get to SRR - I would have loved to see your Cerb.

SRR? 372bhp humph! Charlie had mine on there a couple of weeks back - I think it did 354 shortly after someone else with a 4.2 did 392!!!

In hindsight I was glad Mr 4.2 left before mine went on - maybe some tinkering is in order before August wink

I dropped my car off at joo's tonight, made 365bhp on the rollers, 40bhp down on previous, so my car has a bit more to show you when we can find out what's wrong with it yikes

lost a lot of torque aswell i think frown

do you want me to give joo a kick lee? wink he's a very busy talented man biggrin

You built a nice engine there Windsor smile

Edd, your car's lost a whole chunk of airflow, it's well down on hp and running very rich because of the loss of airflow. I'll start delving inside soon and hopefully find something amiss. It's not a good start though frown it was 405hp before so 10% down now. Wonder what has changed.

Nice figure, I wonder how high the 4.2 can really go, I know it is often said to be not hugely tuneable but as Donny said there is this mysterious 392hp 4.2 out there, sadly doesn't appear to be a Ph'er (least if he is he's a modest one, I would be shouting that from the rooftops). Wonder if a 400 4.2 is possible scratchchin

yeh i know i can really feel that power loss and torque frown

possibly a problem with the air filter? If you recall last time you had to cut a chunk out my airbox to get the desired flow
as that was restricting it frown

at least we know why my fuel consumption is so poor then!

any luck on diagnistics?

What did joo have to cut out the airbox? foam from the filter itself? that would badly restrict airflow and mess up fueling! easy 40+ bhp loss.
Hope its something simple again!!

Apologies if all this has been explained elsewhere and I am being slow.

Could it be there are some 4.5 internals lurking under the bonnet of that 4.2 ?
