Indicator Lenses

I need a front indicator lenses. Tried the Daf parts people suggested on the alternative parts list, they mailed me back this morning to say they can no longer obtain them. So is down the Kia Pride route or is there an alternative for the original ones? She is a very early car I suspect and I would rather keep her original. Unless anyone has one good one spare after upgrading they would like to sell me?

The DAF ones are available from time to time at various DAF spares places - you just have to be lucky. Try your local scrappy too just in case. Also, I think one of the TVR parts dealers on the interweb sells them but they aren't cheap!

Hi there, if you look back at some of the earlier threads on indicators you will see a bit about BMW E30 indicator lenses, with pictures. They have been commented on favourably on my car and are readily available via ebay. (E30 NOT M3 model)

They are the right ones, those shown on this listing are the clear lens with amber insert. You can therefore use the original TVR/Leyland bulb holders and clear bulbs or you can take out the amber insert, makes the indicator clear and fit amber bulbs. The clear indicator lenses look very good on some car colours. I have used the light smoked lenses on my BRG car, when we offered them up everybody said the smoked ones looked best. Mounting hole cantres are almost identical but see my previous 'thread' with pictures which gives more details of fitting. Let me know how you get on.

I have to say Richard that yours is the best looking of the alternatives I have seen so far (with apologies to the Kia brigade obviously ) so yours are the light smoked and have the orange filter inside ? did you fit anything into the gap between the new lens and the bonnet moulding ?

Hi, thanks for that. No, as the lens is very slightly shorter, but is perfectly on centre with the original, the small gaps at each end are equal and look right. The lens is pretty well exactly the same height as the 'bumper' moulding and lines up very well. The projection of the lens is pretty well perfect to line up with the front of the rubber 'bumper' mouldings. One other thing I have done however is that I have refitted the bumper mouldings using thick stainless steel strip inserts and much more 'meaty' self tapping bolts, which has brought the moulding in tight to the body.
