Note that the lazy way to install a Nokia carkit is to use the provided Nokia speaker for audio. If you want audio via the car speakers then additional wiring is required. You should find that radio/CD cuts out when an incoming call is detected regardless of the speakers used.
Previous Nokia's (handsets) I've used detected that they were in a cradle via the physical connection at the base - don't think you should need to select a profile manually.
Sorry, no suggestions other than double checking the connection at the base of the phone (older Nokia handsets also had a rubber cover over an antenna connection, this needed to be removed to ensure the handset mated properly with the cradle)

Thanks for the tips guys, I dont know that it works, but theres no Nokia speaker. Will borrow another Nokia incase the phones tonked, otherwise out it comes! They've mucked around with the stereo (6 cd stacker gone from the boot, (is that the right term for the place you stick your luggage in a Porsche) original stereo with one cd slot in in the dash) so possible they have unplugged the phone. Anyone know how to get access to the back of the stereo?
