335d D - chipped = AMAZING!

Shires performance did mine, think they charge £400 but will do a deal if more than one car (any make diesel ) to do. Mpg is no worse and may have even improved, I only ran the car couple of days before I got it done , but Ive had 46 on a decent run , round doors 30-33 mpg seems the norm.
you have to get it done the difference is staggering from what it was standard, I held off a pals Rs6 the other day from a rolling start right up to very high speed.

dunno about times as I said earlier my pals standard rs6 cant pass it from a rolling 2nd gear start and we have been up to some ridulous speeds. (remap also takes off speed restrictor) Jamie from Shires that did the remap wants some video footage for his website , will post it up here once I get around to doing it. I would think 5.5 to 60 will be on the mony but its the next bit where it gets stronger and after 100 its mental.

If you want it doing give them a ring speak to Jamie mention my name and ask him to install the file that he used in my ecu as it is a stronger setting than the standard chip and i can 100% recomend it !!
Insurance wise Im on a trade policy so vehicles are not listed individually. software is non detectable anyway , there are no visible signs of it being done, he will also reload the modified map at no charge should your car get a software update by the dealers.

The amazing thing with the '35d lump is the oomph returned/throttle angle made.
Chum Reggie's car, standard issue, oot tha box, reminded me how, once rolling, it could attain such ludicrous additional momentum for so little throttle inputtage.
In this regard, the delivery - and I stand by this - was not dissimilar to a boggo 911 Turbo, of mid 90's vintage.
Wrapped up in such competent, planted civilty, it made for unparalleled stealth bombing.
Your tweaked car, I can only imagine: people really would be taken aback.

I had a race with a standard 535d when i had my E46 M3. We where going along a duel carriageway with roundabouts, the m3 seemed a little quicker on response out of the roundabout but once we got to 90 / 100 the 535d seemed to come on song and pull a lot stronger and this was a standard one.
just had my x3 3.0sd (335d engine) done by DMS - excellent service and definitely smoother (it was already smooth too), quicker and sounds almost like a V8 at times
the mpg has gone up around 5% (to average 32) on a mix of motorways, A and B roads.
i timed it as follows allowing 5% speedo error:
0-60: 5.4
0-100: 13.3
50-70 in kickdown: 2.8!!!
it left a supercharged rangie for dead yesterday and easily stayed with an X5 4.4i and probably could have passed if he had bothered to move over...

The diesel figures do sound very impressive, does the tone of the engine change once chipped?
I have the petrol 335 and the only people who can chip it are Hartge, but they want £1200+VAT (by memory) to take it to 360bhp, they are able to take it to 381bhp but they'll want the best park of £7k for the pleasure! seems a 'bit' steep to me so im waiting until DMS or Superchips are able to do it for less.
Apparently DMS did chip their 335i up to 385bhp but problems with the ECU were causing it to be unreliable... and they eventually couldn't invest anymore man houre in it and (in a nut shell) gave up and sold their 335i.
I havn't checked the latest in chipping the 335 petrol for a few monthes now, if anyone knows of any progress please let me know....

yes that would be a monster... (the petrol that is 180mph from a 1 series deisel?

the engine note becomes a bit deeper and the car sucks in more air due to turbo changes - sounds powerful and, when moving and accelerating, almost like a soft V8!!
will never sounds as nice as the 3.0 petrol though but is SO much quicker....(i changed from a 330) and i would say it is quicker than the Impreza Sti (2005) and Evo 8 300 i have had recently.
the gearbox is an auto and thus has a torque converter which will not permit any damage. apparently it is rated up to around 650 lbft anyway...DMS are too profesional an outfit to strain other components with their upgrade...
