hi
you have done the right thing initially - washed it off. its worth carrying some water or detail spray in the car - even if you csnnot remve safely - ie no mf cloth or car dirty, spritz with water to dilute the acidity of the lime, and safely wash off when home. simply wiping will still leave the acidic residue.
ok - the clear coat is now etched and for this the sufrace will need correction. depending on severity you may get away with a hand effort - try some fine polish like menzerna final finish or 3m fine compound. this is what i use as a professional so something off the shelf may be meguires scratch x. use slow medium pressure motions ( longitudinal not circular) working until clear with repeat applications. use a clean microfibre cloth too. this is fine enough to safely abrade and not risk cc damage or dulling. it also contains fillers to help mask if you cannot get it all out.
failing that it requires corrective polishing by a professional ( i am in cheshire and will take a look foc to advise if that helps.)
Kind regards
matthew
