Im actively looking for an F430 now(not red) and id rather buy private to cut out the dealer spread if possible.

Iv seen this one:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/193152.htm

It really doesnt seem to have big spec apart from the race seats and being f1, when i spoke to maranello today the guy said come resale the seats dont make a lot of difference.

This car is as expensive as a Ferrari dealer but ill email him and see if this is the correct price.

The other thing is that in the advert is does say " Not been tracked " but the second picture looks very much like the paddock of a race track with the guy in the green race suit and the 4x4 and vans with trailers. I know he could be there watching a friend or tracking another car but are you saying you would never be tempted to try your F430 on the track? Also the car has race seats, surely you wouldnt spec these if you didnt intend to track the car?!?!?! I dont care if the car has been tracked and looked after as such but do care if someone feels the need to lie about it.

So if you are Richard or know him could you let me know what the situation is.

thanks

99% of people that turn up in ferraris etc at trackdays park them in the paddock and spectate. sad but true. so i wouldn't derive any assumptions from the photograph.

And quite a few others who track their cars cover up the plates so they can't be traced - so you might as well assume every F car has been tracked

Anyway as you say, whats wrong with tracking a car
better a tracked car than one thats been driven by a crap driver
or even worse trashed round Europe on the Gumball

Why would you have race seats if not to race?
Have you tried them?, they are a million times better than the standard seats, especially over long distances

actually just looked at the advert - 3,800 miles in two years - perhaps he hasn't tracked the car

Trax,

I agree about tracking it but not if the person happens to be lying about it. I have buckets in my 3 and yes they are amazing on track but there a pain to live with for everyday use. If i wasnt going to track my 3 i would not have had buckets.

try them out

I have race seats in my 430
standard seats in the Gallardo

For commuting into London I prefer the race seats
Remember that car has standard seat belts not 4 point supports

You may or may not be aware that all the 1st owners of 430s automatically get 1 year's membership of Fiorano Ferrari, which is the "club" that gives you access to track days using Ferrari UK's fleet of 430s and 360 Challenges.

In fact that pic looks very much like Silverstone 15th May when Trax and I and quite a few others took advantage of the Fiorano facilities. There is the option to use your own car, but as it actually costs more than using theirs, not many owners do so!

The car park had loads of 430s in it that day.....and the few owner's cars that were due on track were parked in the garages, not the car park!

I recall seeing a black Porsche parked there that day, but I may be mistaken and it could be a totally different track or even a different day! I remembered the Porsche as I recall thinking "who let the peasants in?"
biggrin

As for the sports seats, as Trax has already stated, many owners opt for them as they are extremely comfortable....some buy them 'cos they think they look better! Also it "appears" that the car in question doesn't have the 4 point harness, just standard seat belts.....not the choice of a track day demon!

Don't forget the racing seats are available in 3 sizes, so check that they are the correct size for you.

Thanks Traxx and spiderman,

I wasnt aware of either of those things(track days and size seats). The price is still high for a private car of that age and mileage. Ill send an email.

thanks again

As in Rosso Corsa? I wouldnt buy a jelly bean off him if your talking about who i think your talking about.... wink wink.....over and out wink

Ade,

A similar car has just gone privately on Autotrader in grey(ok not sport seats but 55/05) for just below 120k. His price is so high im not sure its even worth trying with him, maybe it is but i think he has unrealistic expectations.
