Does anybody know which afm is a direct upgrage from a Jag that can be used on a 4.0l chim, Apparently there is one but i'm not sure which model of Jag it comes from. Got this info from a guy who is running v8 rover in his Morgan but he also was not sure which model it came from. .confused

Sorry cant remember which one but its not as easy as just swapping, I believe it needs re-wiring too.

Here -> http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Which will send you to here -> http://www.rpiv8.com/carbs-2.htm#setting-up

Happy reading smile

If you want to replace the original one with an exact replacement, have a look on ebay. i just got a brand new standard lucas one for about £80.
(Then i found a cheaper one soon after frown )

Steve,
Are you aware that this up grade is not a plug and go option?
If you change the AFM you will need to get a remap of the ECU chip to compensate for the different signal levels that will be coming from the larger
AFM.
Just a thought.
Paul.

Thanks Guys, Was told it was a straight swap which would make it a cheap upgrade as the standard 4.0l type does not have a big enough intake.

Regards
Steve.

yes jon the 3am and 5am afms are interchangeable with no probs and no rechip but the jag 20am or the later larger orifice afms need a rechip at the mo, but i would save my money and put my money towards another ecu which does away with the afm altogether taking this restrictive item out of the equation
cheers

Joolz (Track Car Solutions) was talking about offering a plug-in conversion based on MegaSquirt at one point. I don't know where he got with this, but if you're serious it would be worth a call.
