Define broken down?
I've been on a lowloader once after snapping a damper, but that can happen with any car.
I wouldn't say they're specifically unreliable, most of them suffer from issues caused by standing around doing nothing for 51 weeks a year - any car would get umpy at that.
If you're looking for a good 'un then look at the usage (middle-ish miles ain't a bad thing... as I stated a few lines ago), forget what toys it has and check the condition or it all over - because glass fibre doesn't rust, even a neglected one might look okay superficially, so either do your reading on common issues or take some who knows what they're looking for with you. Just because every single Cerb looks stunning parked up doesn't mean there aren't any mistreated sh*tters out there amongst the wealth of gems - they just hide it well.

has your Cerb Broken down on you?
I'm considering one at some point in the future and wanted to dispel on underline the reliability myth once and for all. Cheers guys.
Easy one for me, had it 2 1/2 years number of times it has let me down zero. That doesn't mean it has not cost me loads though. But as I am a mechanical numpty I probably pay more to keep mine in good nick than most. We've only had alternator failure actually stop the car. I've had a couple of electrical problems to resolve - indicators gave up and the dipped beam headlights gave up - new steering wheel ECU and a bit of soldering to fix the headlights. I also caught the slave before it failed - I felt a change to the clutch pedal feel. I've driven the car in the worst weathers, through the snow in the Midlands to Blackpool for the Thunderball and she's felt utterly dependable. Look after a Cerb, dealing with problems early and there's no reason for concern. The key is to get the right person looking after your car.
Steve.
Steve.
Three years twice.
Once when a lorry I was overtaking dropped a paving slab which I ran over effectively destroying the front passenger alloy. The car was driveable just, and the tyre was still inflated but I just didn't want to risk it.
Second time throttle cable bracket broke, so I wedged a pound coin under the throttle stop to have a fixed throttle of 2000 rpm, and carefully drove it home. The fifty pence piece wasn't going to cut it

.To buck the trend here, mine has died 3 times in 11 days. 3 different faults and all fixable. 100amp link burn-out, failed to start (immobiliser) and gear lever fell off! Flatbacked twice, though this was precautionary work.
None the less, still happy, it is just the Missus saying 'I told you so' and 'You working on that bloomin' car again?' that gets right on my T*Ts

Coming up for a years ownership, 7K miles, never let me down. A few niggles like big fuse, but I drove that home, plus the clutch nearly disappeared during London Thunder, but that was after being cooked by the cats for 3 hours. I still drove it home. It was just old manky clutch fluid. I flushed it through with new and it's been as good as gold.
You just have to look after them. I check oil, tyres, water etc all the time on it, sort any little thing and leave it on an battery conditioner when not in use.
