Ive heard that the new Pan America will offer a model with a de-tuned V10 Carrera GT engine as Porsche have a few of these engines knocking about !

If this is true the new 4 door Porsche could be quite a weapon and thinking its needs to compete Bentley/Maserati it does make sense !

That's what rumour has for quite a while. I wonder about the level of de-tuning (and the weight the car comes in) though

A squashed Cayenne with a V10 engine de-tuned engine in !!!

a wee trip to a specialist tuner - bigger exhaust ,ECU map and filter and hey presto
a "Monster " with the wail of the Porsche V10 ( the most glorious sound I have heard )

Ive put my name down for one last January

what are the Journos saying ?

The Journo's are saying

'This baby has a trace of steady state lift off oversteer with subtle tendancy towards understeer as that slippy diff digs into the tarmc like Gordon brown digging into number 10'

Or some total boocks like that anyway.

Tim, you've got a defender, you dont need another military vehicle..

Well Ive ordered a Pan America !
If the V10 is an Option Im going for one of those

With Porsche in bed with Audi Im sure the Pan America will be a success

I saw one at the Nurburgring a few weeks ago on the road
it looked like a Squashed Cayennne

The V10 engine sound is really fabulous...

But the car needs to remain a Porsche. A front engine sedan, need to get used to the idea. It's probably going to be 4wd as well. How come BMW never needed to resort to this gimmick for its powerful models, and Porsche swears by it for 60% of its production.. even flagships like the TT..
I never understood the 4wd... (sorry if this is OT)

I'm almost positive it's a Panamera.

yes

Isn't the Panamerica a limited edition Ferrari - a variant of the 599, I think?

Autocar had a squashed Cayenne on the cover recently so that's most likely what you saw rather than a Panamera

Mastermind Herr Wiedeking is on his platform strategy again. Imagine they are long on Caynnes, they only need to squash them at the end of the production line and, voila, they can sell it as a Panamera...wink

The car is most definitely called the Panamera not Panamerica. I also placed a deposit last year and am down to get one of the launch cars.

Cayenne floor pan and tranny, CGT engine, makes sense to a bean counter. Or was that a VW Phaeton?
