Insurance question....Regarding lowered suspension...
Discussion
I wonder if anyone can help me with this...I have a policy with Admiral (who charged me a premium for changing the colour of the car)...And I asked the following question to them..
This is a touch kafka so bear with me...IF I have had the lowered by up to 5cm they will charge me a premium of £21 a year....Okay...Sounds fine...However, in the event of a claim they will NOT pay out if 'the modification does not form part standard manufacturers specification'...
Where does this leave me I wonder? you would expect a Porsche to be low as the dealer said but i am keen to be covered....
Many thanks,
Jerome

Welcome to the world of "cheap" car insurance. This is a touch kafka so bear with me...IF I have had the lowered by up to 5cm they will charge me a premium of £21 a year....Okay...Sounds fine...However, in the event of a claim they will NOT pay out if 'the modification does not form part standard manufacturers specification'...

If the car is modified then you HAVE to declare it. It sounds to me as if they will only cover Porsche approved modifications. That is to say of the lowering kit is OEM Porsche kit.
A different example would be wheel spacers.
Porsche ones are fine, non Porsche would invalidate your policy.
My advice - buy insurance from someone like Chubb Masterpiece. It's a supercar, you shouldn't be insuring it with a "sausage machine" insurer which is only any use for £3k tin boxes. False economy.
